Join CTA Executive Staff for a webinar to discuss the benefits and impacts on the trucking industry that was contained in the California infrastructure package, Senate Bill (SB) 1. 

SB 1 was the culmination of 3 years of negotiations between various goods movement stakeholders, including CTA, legislative leaders, and the Administration that saw the passage of a 10 year $5.2 billion annual transportation funding package. To develop the funding necessary for this critical road funding package, the Legislature included several controversial provisions such as increasing the fuel tax 12 cents per gallon, 20 cent diesel tax increase, 4% increase to the diesel excise tax, and an increase to the VLF for passenger vehicles on a sliding scale depending on the value of the vehicle. 

CTA was actively engaged throughout the process advocating for several CTA board approved positions, to ensure that those positions were protected and delivered. This included: 

• NO increase to weight fees 
• NO VLF increase for commercial heavy duty trucks 
• A “Useful Life” provision included over vocal and united objections from the entire environmental community, to ensure the trucking industry will receive a return on investment that it made in complying with the CARB On-Road Truck and Bus Rule.
• Inclusion of CTA's sponsored bill SB 174 (Lara) which tied vehicle registration with CARB compliance.

Significant fuel tax increases are not to be taken lightly, and as such CTA will be hosting this webinar to ensure our membership is adequately informed on the provisions contained in SB 1.
