VIRTUAL SAFETY COUNCIL MEETING

The CTA North and South Safety Council will host FMCSA for a presentation on Compliance Reviews and DOT Carrier Ratings.

 Eugene Kawahata, FMCSA Specialist, will provide insight on Compliance Reviews and how "Not Rated" safety scores affect motor carriers.

FMCSA will overview the components of Compliance Reviews and the reasons as to why a compliance review may be conducted on a motor carrier. Compliance Reviews examines a motor carriers operations such as hours of service, maintenance and inspection records, driver qualification, financial responsibility, accidents and other safety components to determine safety qualifications.   

The US DOT rates motor carriers on their safety compliance and are rated as: Satisfactory, Conditional, Unsatisfactory or Not Rated. Unrated carrier means that a safety rating has not been assigned to the motor carrier by FMCSA. Kawahata will breakdown the myths about unrated motor carriers and what this means to a motor carrier operations safety record.
