Special Northern Safety Council Meeting
In-Depth Terrorism Awareness/Fusion Center Training for Trucking Safety Professionals 

Back by popular demand, Kurt Carpenter, Field Intelligence Officer with TSA, will be giving an in depth four hour training on Basic Terrorism Awareness/Fusion Center Training with an overview of terrorism/major crimes. The course will give an overview of what terrorism is, and what types of terrorism exists (Foreign and Domestic). It will identify what suspicious behavior is. The course will provide information on how fusion centers operate and how the safety professionals in the trucking industry can integrate with their local center. The course will provide an overview of how the intelligence cycle applies to the trucking industry, and how to report suspicious activity to the proper authority, as well as information security.

Snacks and lunch will be provided.

Presenter: Kurt D. Carpenter Field Intelligence Officer, Transportation Security Administration

Mr. Carpenter has over 24 years of combined active and reserve service in the United States Navy. In 2003 he completed a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Intelligence from American Military University. Mr. Carpenter joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an Intelligence Analyst in September 2004 assigned to the Sacramento Division’s Field Intelligence Group. For the Bureau he served as the senior analyst and FBI representative in the Central California Intelligence Fusion Center located in Sacramento working Counter-terrorism and earned the Intelligence Community’s Joint Duty Qualification. Mr. Carpenter joined the Transportation Security Administration in January 2012 to assume the duties of the Field Intelligence Officer for the Sacramento Region.
