The California Air Resources Board (CARB) staff invites you to participate in a webinar on August 12, 2020, to discuss draft concepts for California’s future comprehensive heavy-duty vehicle inspection and maintenance (HD I/M) program.  Senate Bill (SB) 210 (Leyva; Chapter 298, Statutes of 2019) directs CARB to develop and implement a HD I/M program in consultation with its partner State agencies. The comprehensive HD I/M program would help ensure that applicable heavy-duty vehicles operating in California have properly functioning emissions control systems and that emissions-related malfunctions are repaired in a timely manner. Based on the HD I/M program framework prescribed in SB 210, staff will present a draft concept proposal for the HD I/M program and solicit stakeholder feedback. The draft concept proposal may include, but may not be limited to, elements such as periodic testing requirements, the installation of a vehicle emissions monitoring network, and other enforcement strategies directed to help ensure program compliance.
